The replacement of the two standards EN 60950-1 and EN 60065 by EN 62368-1 generates a lot of movement in the standards landscape. The official successor is EN 62368-1, but it clearly focuses on the special needs of information technology.

For power supplies outside this application, the official successor standard does not necessarily fit, even though it was previously designed according to 60950, because here too the normative requirements are based on those for the terminal device or the facility.

This "best practice" guide covers the basic safety requirements for power supplies for various applications and is intended to assist manufacturers' technical personnel and users with technical expertise in selecting a suitable safety standard.

This manual does not replace the study of the relevant standards in the current editions and does not give a complete overview of all possible requirements
